English language challenges

When I took the English test, I was so happy to have the opportunity of improve my level of English. I’m one of that person that actually like to learn languages, so I was very excited. But, I had a few problems taking the course.

I finished the third level of English two years ago, and since that semester I try to take the fourth level, but I couldn’t. I even went to a few classes of English in Facso, but didn’t appear in the ucursos system, so it was invalid.

If I let out the technical and schedule problems, it wasn’t a bad experience, but I think I could better, that we can use another’s methods to improve our level of English.  Focalizing in two areas, talking and writing/reading.

For the first one I think games can be useful. And for the second area, maybe we can try reading some little stories and discuss our thoughts about that, or write them in the blogs; But I’m not sure, maybe isn’t a good idea, perhaps it I turn up boring for some of our partners.

I would like to concentrate in the second area because I think it can be useful in the future for write an article or that kind of stuff or to pass the international test, like TOEFL or IETLS.

Talking about other matter, the use English in the daily life, personally I used every day for a really embarrassment reason. It is because my favourites TV shows are in English and also the better channels of YouTube. Besides, there is plenty movies that have English as his original language, and I prefer to watch them like that because allowed me to connect with the characters.

My experience learning English

Hi everyone in this entry I’m going to talk about my experience learning English at the university. I took the third level of English two years ago, and I really notice a big difference in the way I drafting. I think I improved thanks to the blogs.

Specially because since I was little kid I had trouble to write in English, it was easier for me to communicate myself talking, because I always watch T.V shows in English. So, I had more experience listening and talking in English because I used to practice with my cousins-that are Australians- or the foreign that come to Chili.

That the reason why I would like to improve my academic writing, so I could be able to made good essays. I think this can be really useful in the future to translate papers or my own work.

I also would like to practice for the final interview, learn the contents of it the exam, I mean the vocabulary, the grammar, the English verb tenses and all that is related with the test. The last thing I would like to learn are the contents of the IELTS. Maybe we could have made a practice trial of that kinds of test.

Maybe we could play some games to learn English; for example: we could make roles-plays, lecture and group discussions. We also can watch movies to take advantage of the technology of the tools class. I also think we could have a class dedicate to correct the work that we had until now.

The bad habits in the field

The other day a couple of journalist came to make a chat of the internet media. They were from an independent media, which it is pretty weird in this country, considering the concentration of the media in Chili.

The concentration of the press ownership in Chile is one of bigger problems of the journalism. But, there is also another thing that is very alarming. All the media talk about the same subjects or issues.
The academic term is Homogeneity, but in newspaper slang is known as “hacer mesa”, it is Spanish expression refer to make copy page. In other words look what others medias published, change a few words a published the article. No innovation or  any sort of investigation.
Have of the chat was related with these practice in the journalism. They talk about it, but they don’t realized how dangerous it is. Right after they finished the teacher get up from her sit and left the room. She was absolutely indignant. Her attitude  wasn’t very polite. However, she understand how important it is to generate own content.
The issues that conform the setting agency aren’t the most relevant, we have clarity of that. Sometimes we talk about the subject that generated more click bates, pure sensationalism. But in other occasions we talk about issues that are closed to elite.
Consider this context, the biggest challenge for the future is to be able to communicate about the social problems of our society, about what is truly important.
