The bad habits in the field

The other day a couple of journalist came to make a chat of the internet media. They were from an independent media, which it is pretty weird in this country, considering the concentration of the media in Chili.

The concentration of the press ownership in Chile is one of bigger problems of the journalism. But, there is also another thing that is very alarming. All the media talk about the same subjects or issues.
The academic term is Homogeneity, but in newspaper slang is known as “hacer mesa”, it is Spanish expression refer to make copy page. In other words look what others medias published, change a few words a published the article. No innovation or  any sort of investigation.
Have of the chat was related with these practice in the journalism. They talk about it, but they don’t realized how dangerous it is. Right after they finished the teacher get up from her sit and left the room. She was absolutely indignant. Her attitude  wasn’t very polite. However, she understand how important it is to generate own content.
The issues that conform the setting agency aren’t the most relevant, we have clarity of that. Sometimes we talk about the subject that generated more click bates, pure sensationalism. But in other occasions we talk about issues that are closed to elite.
Consider this context, the biggest challenge for the future is to be able to communicate about the social problems of our society, about what is truly important.

Postgraduate studies

From my point of view is necessary to have a very specific interest in your field to choose a program of postgraduate studies. That is the reason why I will like to work for a while to acquire some experience and then with more clarity choose the correct postgraduate.

I would like to make a specialization or a master in the field of communications and social science. I wouldn’t choose a doctorate because I don’t want to be a university professor. Besides, finish a PHD require a lot of time and effort.

I think it is more enriching to study a post graduate studies in another country. I will probably choose Canada because my aunt and her family live there. And I also have a really good relationship with her and my cousins.

Montreal have really good universities with worldwide recognize and high level of employability rate, some of the are: McGill University, Concordia University and the Université de Montreal. In addition, it is a multicultural city, the people is really nice with the foreigners and you have the option of study in English or in French.

Sometimes the government offers scholarships in foreigner’s universities. But, in an ideal scenario I would like to choose a mode of study more relaxing like: part time or half time, for have more free time to work if is necessary and at the same time, know the city.

Maybe the distance learning is the mode of study of the future, but I am not really big fan of it.  Because I think that learning distance have some limitations, specially with some complicated process, like the investigation and the critical thinking. Furthermore, I consider that the university experience it is more that only the class and require the face-to-face interaction.

I think is really difficult decision and involved many areas like: the money, the time and the effort. So is better to meditate about first and then take a decision.

The Music of my chilewood

When I was kid, I had terrible musical teste, maybe It was related with disease in middle ear. Ok, that was not a really good excuse. But, it gets worse, because the terrible teste was accompanied with no fear to make the fool. So that Is how I ended with several videos of me, dancing the songs of: Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Pedro Fernandez.

I was such a big fan of Britney Spears that I even ask to my grandmother a red bodysuit like the one Britney use in her video: Oops… I Did it Again. And I wore it for going to the Kinder Garden. And even there I used to dance the choreography.

At the same time, my entire family love the folklore, so I grow up with the sounds of: Sol y Lluvia, Violeta Parra, Inti Illimani, Los Jaivas and Victor Jara.  Yes, it is a really interesting mix. That was the music who represents all political crisis that they had to live in the dictatorship.

These groups have been the soundtrack of my life, and bring me a lot of memories. The funniest moments, the family reunions, the cleaning day at the rhythm of Metallica and Ricardo Arjona. I still can`t stand Ricardo Arjona music, but sometimes I hear the others bands to remember the past.
