The wonders of Belgium

By Nicol Ramos

I would like to go to Belgium, because it has beautiful landscapes. Belgium offers a unique cultural mix, so you can learn and practice many languages.  The population is divided in Dutch-speakers, French-speakers and German-speakers.
They have lovely weather because it rains all the time, witch made it very green. It has a very fertile land and it surrounded by sea.
I would like to visit many places as the “Spontaneous Art Museum” and the Schaerbeek Museum of Belgian Beer. I would love to go to see the famous “Manneken Pis”.  Belgium has plenty castles as “Gravensteen” and “Miranda Castle”.
The typical food of Belgium is French fries. The beer it is also very famous around the world. The chocolate couldn’t be forgotten.

I would like to study in the “University free of Brussels” for one semester. I think it is a very good opportunity to increase your cultural background. Meet another cultural. Belgium also has another advantage, his location because you can visit the rest of Europe.

It is always sad to say Goodbye
By Nicol Ramos

Hi everyone! Today is my last entree. Well when they told me that we are going to blog, I thought: OMG! I don’t know anything about blogs. I can`t write in English and I’m not that creative. However, turns up that I enjoy writing some entries. And laugh with the things that my partners write. It was a good way to know the tastes of them.

On the other hand, I think that for me it was a good tool because for the first time in my entire life, someone made me write in English, every week. That doesn`t mean that I love it.  I still believe that I is more easy for communicate in an oral way. Because at least it is possible to improvises. Or use your hands and your face. What I`m trying to say is that body help a lot to transmit an idea to other person.

Nonetheless, the most important I lost the fear to write in English. I’m going to keep practicing. But, I prefer to do it in private. Because it is bizarre that anyone can know so much about me. The good thing is that nobody read my entries. And pass as inconspicuous as possible.

I want to close this cycle with all the bad and good things about. But, one thing it is conclusive. This has been a rich experience. Goodbye!

My Experience at University

By Nicol Ramos

Hi everyone! In this post I’m going to write about my experience in the university  and compare it  with all the things that my mom and my grandmother tell me about it.
As already told you, my mom gave birth when she was a teenager. I remember the notebook with plenty exercises, that my mom has to do every night. She studied commercial engineer.
Back then, what I knew about university it was that people have to study a lot. His friends teach how to make a circular graphic when I was five. I thought that they are like genius or something like that. Because they can answer all my questions.  For example: How is made the T.V or Why it rains?
When I was twelve, my grandmother start to study a postgraduate in the University of Santiago. She used to tell me that students over there were really nice. And they make a lot of parties, and they even drink alcohol. So, I think maybe is no so boring going to the university.
In my experience University has been an adventure. The first day that arrive here, I lost. I been giving rounds for Baquedano for fifteen minutes, to find the stop of the bus. Then when I arrive to the campus, I went to the institute (ICEI) and didn’t knew where it was the auditorium: “José Carrasco Tapia”. I fallow my instinct and I arrive early. But, that didn’t work out so well, to find the classrooms. I get in to other class. I stay for half hour. Even I note the name of teacher and some notes. But when she said: this signature is one of most difficult of the fifth semester. I knew that I was wrong.

My first year in the university was great. Everything was so different, even the people. In summary: I made new friends. I found a lot of veggies. And the education is much better that in high school. And I’m still impressing of the library of philosophy or the orchard in Art.

Bye guys! See you in the last post.

The monsters of my childhood: The ghosts

By Nicol Ramos

When I was little kid I used to go to play to my cousin house every day. She it is adorable. But, she love to scare people. One day she told me a story about “The Phantom of the Opera”.  After that she started to hide behind the doors or the beds and grab my ankles.
According to my cousin the Phantom of the Opera love to sing and whistle. So, when I heard a whistle I scared me.

The other monster was all the demons or the ghosts scared me. Maybe that was caused by the horror films, the stories that the people tell to kids or the catholic religion.

My mommy gave me a very catholic early education. And they always scared the people with the hell and that kind of things. Then, I grow up, and as everyone. And I started to give logical explications to the phenomenon. Instead of give an animistic responses-children give life to inanimate objects-.

However, I used to imagine good monsters.  Like a huge worm that lives under the ground and cause the earthquake when he moves. And what about you, what are your monsters of your childhood? Bye, bye and see next time!
The pen and the brave of Kapuscinski

By Nicol Ramos

Ryszard Kapuściński it was a journalist, photographer and poet. He was born in Poland, in March 4 of 1932. He passed away in January 23 of 2007. He dies after a heart operation in Varsovia. But, his works, are going to past to the history.

Since the first time that I read an article written by Kapuściński, he became in a kind of a mentor. I was complete fascinated for his books. However, the most important for me, it is his ethical sense. And the way how he encouraged to the others journalists to be better professionals. His advices always help me. For example: smile to the interviewees, because the first fifty second are really important. No mother what they says, you have to have a good attitude and let him speak. It may sound obvious and bizarre. But there are plenty’s journalist that get obfuscated when his interviewees talk about their crimes or say something improper.  Start a confrontation is very stupid if you want to get information.
His principal ideas and advices about how being a good journalist it was see otherness with respect.  Insert in his culture. Read a lot. Learn about others areas, like the social sciences or economy. See the life as a constant learning. Or that is what I understand about it.

Kapuściński travel all around the world documenting the most important milestones. He wrote a lot of articles and books. These are one of the famous works: The Emperor, The Soccer War and Shah of Shahs. He has a unique narrative style. All his books caused discussion and controversy. He was considered like one of the most credible journalist of his times.

By Nicol Ramos

Hi! Everybody.  Today I’m going to write about my favourite food. Three years ago I became into a veggie. Since that everybody think that I only eat salads.  But, there is plenty dishes that you can prepare if you don’t eat meet. You just need a little of creativity.

One of my favourite meals is the lentils. A considered delicious, i like them mix them with rice and veggies. It is healthy. It is a really good source of proteins and it is filling dish. Especially for this winter,  because it is warm.
In summer you can eat them without the broth accompanied with a salad.

I´m a simple person, so I enjoy of the simple things. Nothing better than grilled mushrooms or a sandwich with tomato, basil and goat cheese grilled.

Well the ravioli with spinach and ricotta cheese are a classic. Everybody loves the pastas. But the falafel is not so known. Falafel is a traditional  Arab dish. Is very popular in the Middle Eastern. They are like little bolls made of chickpeas. Usually is served inside of a  pita, with veggies and  cream.

I think already tell you all my favourites dishes. And I hope you taste one of these. But, what about you? Which are your favourites dishes?

By Nicol Ramos
Hello everybody! Today I’m going to write about what is behind of one of my favourite photograph.
They always said that the photograph have the ambition of capture a moment. Preserve an instant. And that is exactly what that picture made, remember a good memory.

Every time that I look at this a smile curves my lips.  After a long time without meeting us. My friends and I finally reunited in the department of one of the boys. It was the end of the summer.  The sun hides in the cordillera of the coast.
We lived that day like no other. We laugh like if the tomorrow doesn't exist. We feel really young and free.

After a really good journey, at eight o clock of the evening, we have a brilliant idea.  We decided to go to swim. I remember that I don't have my swimsuit with me, so I used a t- shirt. We run until the pool and jumped in. Like when we are kids. The big problem it was that no one brought a towel. We were practically frozen.

I was born in a sunny Sunday of November in 1995. My mom told me that she didn’t want to know the sex of the baby. But, everybody thought that I will be a boy, and they will name “Sebastian”.  So I give her a big surprise.
My dad was a big fan of Nicole Kidman. So when he knows that   I was a girl, he had the perfect name. I considered very lucky girl, imagined if he were a fan of Cindy Lauper or Madonna. My father is an account officer, but his dream was to be an actor. My mom is a commercial engineer.
All my life I   have been living in the commune of Maipú, more specifically in “Ciudad Satélite”. I think is a really good place to live.   Is around by plenty parks and life is really peaceful.  Since, a couple of years ago, I been living in two houses. My dad house is in another place. But, it is in the same commune. And of course, the house of grandmother still is in “Ciudad Satélite”.
I only pass for three schools during all my life. “Mater Dei” a catholic school, “Colegio del Valle” and “Saint Louis School”. The last one is the most important, because I went there for seven years and graduate over there.  Right after go out of high school,   I went to the University of Chile to study journalism. Actually I´m second year of journalism.

My hobbies are listen jazz music and dance. Everything that will be related with expressing with my body. In general I´m always learning new things.  Like modern dance and pilates.  Last year I learned a little bit of tela, this  year I hope to start to practice yoga.
My favorite piece of technology

By Nicol Ramos

Hi there! Today I´m gone write about my favorite piece of technology. I believe that the laptop is one  of the most useful tools that the human being created. I mean you can do a lot of things with one of these.  In my opinion my laptop is special. Yes, some people would say that it is silly.  But, I don´t care. My computer has been my partner when I write in the middle of night, that article for university or whatever. In fact I take care of that object. I used it  every day, for watch movies, surfing internet and listen music. I had plenty applications on it, for different things. Even for learn to cook. My favorite chef had a really good application called “Jamie Oliver recipes”. And I have another one for organizing my life. The funniest thing is that I always make lists. But, I never fulfill.

Recently,  my laptop  was attack by a very evil virus, more know it as “troyano”. I suffer a lot for that and I lost practically all my photos and kind of things. In summer my laptop and all the technology objects developed in an extension of the human being. Like, in the antiquity the pencil it was the extension of the hand. Because, they help us in all the task of daily life.
Goodbye everybody!
